A safer tub bottom without a new tub

A reglazed tub is meant to be glass-smooth, and that smoothness is exactly what makes a wet floor slick. A non-slip coating solves that without giving up the smooth finish everywhere else. We build a fine slip-resistant texture into the floor of the tub or shower — the zone where you actually stand — while the walls, the rim and the slope stay smooth. How we apply the non-slip coating

The texture is part of the same prep-and-spray process as a reglaze, just concentrated in the floor zone. On a tub we are already refinishing, the bottom is already cleaned, etched and primed, so we mask the floor area, apply the slip-resistant layer to a controlled coarseness, then carry the topcoat over it. That bonds the texture into the finish instead of leaving it as a separate film that could wear loose.

On a tub we are not reglazing — say you reglazed last year and now want grip added — the bottom still has to be cleaned and lightly etched or scuffed so the new texture sticks, then masked and coated. That is why a standalone non-slip job is quoted on its own rather than as a flat add-on price: it is a small job with real prep, not a quick wipe-on.

We control how coarse the texture is on purpose. Too fine and it doesn't grip; too coarse and it holds grime and feels rough underfoot. The goal is a surface that grips a wet foot and still wipes clean with a non-abrasive liquid cleaner and a soft brush. Why a bonded coating beats a stick-on mat

Suction-cup bath mats are the usual fix for a slick tub, but they cause two problems we see constantly. First, water and grime get trapped under the mat, which grows mildew and can dull the finish beneath it over time. Second, the suction cups grip the coating — on a freshly reglazed tub, peeling a stuck mat off can lift or mar the new finish.
